LNCS, LNAI, LNBI, CCIS, IFIP AICT, LNICST, LNBIP
We would welcome your feedback. Please contact lncs@springer.com with any questions you might have.
Open access publishing
As with all other Springer computer science publications, open access proceedings volumes are available as pdfs and in full-text HTML, as EPUBs.
There are two open access options available for open access publishing in LNCS
- Individual open access papers in a regular volume
- Entire open access volumes
Please consult the open access for Springer computer science proceedings page for detailed information and prices. If you are an author, please inform your conference contact if you are interested in open access. The conference contact will liaise with the editorial office.
Embedded videos in proceedings
Springer offers authors the option of including embedded videos in their proceedings papers, free of charge. The technical requirements are as follows: a resolution of 16:9 or 4:3, a maximum file size of 25 GB, and a minimum duration of 1 second. The following formats are supported: avi, wmv, mp4, mov, m2p, mp2, mpg, mpeg, flv, mxf, mts, m4v, and 3gp. Authors must not violate privacy and confidentiality rules and, as always, permission must be sought for use of third-party content. All types of Electronic Supplementary Material, including videos, should be sent with the authors’ files. If videos are to be embedded, unequivocal instructions as to their positioning must be included.
Check our embedded videos in proceedings page for details and examples.
Authors
Can an author submit a paper to the LNCS Editorial directly?
No. We do not select the papers for publication here in the LNCS Editorial. The papers for presentation are selected by the Program Committees of the conferences. We select the conferences for which the proceedings are to be published in LNCS. Please click on “Forthcoming Proceedings” for a list of conferences accepted.
How can a researcher check whether a conference is being truthful about having its proceedings published by Springer?
Please check our forthcoming proceedings page for LNCS, CCIS and LNBIP. These lists include a link to the correct conference website. If you suspect that a conference is using any Springer logo under false pretenses, please report this to lncs@springer.com
What is the maximum number of pages in a paper?
This is set by the conference and not by Springer.
What can be done if a particular paper has not yet been indexed?
Please click on “Abstracting and Indexing Information” for a list of the indexing services that include Springer computer science proceedings. DBLP and Google Scholar are fast. All other indexing services can take up to 9 months to index a paper. If after 9 months your paper has not been indexed, please contact lncs@springer.com.
May authors place their papers on their institutional repositories?
Computer science proceedings authors may place their papers on their institutional repositories. Please see paragraph 3 of the copyright form available from the authors‘ page for more details.
May authors submit an extended version of their proceedings paper to a journal?
Authors wishing to publish an extended version of their proceedings paper as a journal article must adhere to the following principles: a) the extended version has to include at least 30% new material; b) it has to cite the original publication and c) it must include an explicit statement about the increment (e.g., new results, better description of materials, etc.).
Conference Representatives
If a conference organizer/Program Chair wishes to send a new proposal for a conference proceedings volume, what should they do?
Please complete our proposal form and send it to lncs@springer.com, ccis@springer.com, or lnbip@springer.com, depending on which series you are interested in.
Conferences applying for publication in one of our series must have an international Program Committee, a coherent set of topics of international relevance, and at least three reviewers per paper.
Is there a minimum or maximum number of pages per volume?
A computer science proceedings volume should contain at least 120 pages in total. We can fit up to 500 pages in one single volume. The option of multiple volumes should be discussed with the Springer editors.
