Tom Duvall Chosen to Write Solar Physics Memoir for 2019
We are pleased to announce that Tom Duvall has been selected to write the Solar Physics Memoir for 2019.
Dr. Duvall is being honored for his pioneering efforts in the development and application of helioseismic techniques which have advanced our understanding of 3-D structures and flows in the solar interior as well as those of surface phenomena such as sunspots and supergranules. Tom worked at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center for most of his career and has been on the staff of the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research since 2014. His memoir will appear in Solar Physics early next year.
The memoir series has three main goals: (1) to honor colleagues for distinguished careers, (2) to provide long-term personal perspectives on solar science, and (3) to help educate younger members of the community. The selection committee is chaired by Ed Cliver and includes Paul Cally, Peng-Fei Chen, Sarah Gibson, Jim Klimchuk, Eric Priest, Kazunari Shibata, Sami Solanki, and Astrid Veronig.
